Dear Reddy Sir,

The story was good with its intricacies in detailing, plot construction and character development and maintenance. However, the context of story depicted, which says 'one such woman who is subjected to society's oppressive norms from marriage, domesticity and childbirth' and 'provides the imagery to tragedies women face on a daily basis' is questionable and controversial.

Avani, a good woman was tortured by a bad woman, her mother-in-law, greedy and evil intent Guru Tai. Avani was not tortured by society's norms. Even she tortures her son Adi with her evil self interest. It is a story of a woman (Avani) getting harassed by another woman (Guru Tai) solely due to latter's personal qualities, which is nothing to do with the societal norms(Indian society), domesticity, child birth or generalized statement of tragedies women face on a daily basis.

Some writers have an intention to degrade Indian culture and society and narrate it beautifully in their writings. We need to be cautious about such kind of literature.

My apologies for criticizing such authors intention/work. I might have understood the story in a different perspective.

We come across so many cases of ill treatment of daughter in laws, with mother in laws forgetting that they too were the same before.

One incident happened in Warangal district of Telangana state where an MPs family didn't allow their daughter in law even to feed her children. We also heard of female infanticide In parts of Haryana,

All this makes me to ponder over whether women empowerment?
