There is an organization known as "lawyersclubindia" which has open forum discussions online. On the forum, you join with a different identity (dont reveal the name of the institution) and ask the same question putting everything against a fake company / college name and make many people ask about the same issue. You can also use some of the confidant students especially alumni as if they wanted to know the truth and take it forward. You know, such pressures definitely get us a lot of inputs from various ends.
Next, there is an organization called "ipleaders" in which all new lawyers are coming up on giving consultation services through which you can get advise on this case. Keep the identity hidden, being safer side. I know all these are know to each others, but there are still good and bold people (the youngest generation) who wont bother about sharing what is right, genuine and ethical. So, you will surely get some valuable inputs.
Further, take this matter to the next higher level and prolong the case not to be closed easily. Taking media support should be last resort, because its a public educational institution for which still the stigma attached "as the institution has legal issues" so students will get into trouble anytime. this tendency will affect the institution than the silent proceedings happened so far.
These are my humble opinions, fighting against a system that too a government system, is like a fight against devil. You may be forced to meet numerous challenges, but have the courage to face them. Ultimately, the justice is going to be yours.

(he has done everything legally, but may not be ethical!) Get a new advocate, who could help you in settling the matter with AICTE and apply for renewal.
One of my uncle, who is a senior staff in a high court said that a lawyer has single focus: Get as much money from client as possible!
Even one of my relative's divorce case, our lawyer got money from opposite party and settle the matter (remember that all those lawyers are friends/colleagues. They have tea/lunch together!!)
You could approach media (you have to pay them so money!), supreme court as well as PMO.
But keep your focus on getting the renewal and run the show.

This CIC order was also submitted to AICTE but of no avail.I had three meetings with AICTE Chairman but he refused to heed to Rajasthan High Court and CIC orders. When I told him that I would file contempt of court case, he said that I could do whatever I wanted and AICTE knew how to manage the advocates and courts.I filed a contempt of court case against AICTE Chairman and was feeling great having done so. However, no progress was being made in this. One day AICTE advocate happened to meet me in court premises and he surprisingly told me that everything about the said case had been settled with our advocate. I immediately got hold of the entire case file from our advocate and was shocked to see that our advocate had indeed withdrawn the contempt of court case without taking our permission and did not have the courtesy to even inform us about it.Notwithstanding the above, we were still pursuing the matter against AICTE and had got another enquiry instituted against AICTE. During this, when the enquiry agency asked us about CBI matter, we told it that we had got a restraining order from Rajasthan High Court. To this, we were surprised to know from the enquiry agency that the said order had been vacated. I immediately got the case file from our advocate and was shocked to find that the restraining order had indeed been vacated.
