In a democratic system, we need unions, representatives, committees and members. It can strengthen the education system as well as student's leadership qualities. However, our current student unions and representatives are becoming a menace. Instead of supporting students and the management in developmental activities, they are becoming goonda rajs, unhealthy nexus between students with politicians and black mailing. We need to curb these activities.

Leadership demand has been existing since man's birth. Even in animals and plants we do find leaders. Any society/nation or world as a whole, human are after good or bad (anti-social) leaders in any sector of society like political, literacy, religion, industry, etc.
For example, in case of developing political leadership, one of the keys for good of all, most of our political leaders before, during and after independence have been churned out while many of them were/are in campuses, like, Lokmanya Tilak, Sawarkar, S C Bose, JP, Lalu Prasad Yadao, Nitish Kumar, N Modi, Dange, etc. University campus is a learning seat, a powerhouse generating ideas and building minds. Youth may select any ism as per his attitude and mind set, consolidated his/her thought process and follow the path when one enters in life affairs. Capitalism, communism, socialism, democracy, etc., are the tools for good of people, the variant much dynamic to be used as per the nation's need for survival.
We once adopted student elections in campuses, then withdrew and again adapted. Unfortunately, faculties and politicians have been playing their role for the scenario India has been witnessing since a year. Politics is like a blood flowing through the nerves of people without any age bar. Politics in fact is omnipotent and omniscience. But that at what stage and at what time it needs to be used is a matter of serious consideration for nation building as youths are the future leaders of a country.
The remedy of curbing politics from campuses is more dangerous than the decease itself. Let the students get acquainted with several isms and the ground reality of the nation, let them select any ism for their future journey as a citizen, and do not allow active politics of political parties in the campuses but they along with faculty and regulatory authorities can be allowed to educate/train young minds in the national interest, without any malice to none.
Students' Council like Teachers' Association, for instance, is a Statutory provision with well defined objectives but hardly accomplished. Why? Curb active politics of political parties in the campuses, and train young minds for their future journey as political leaders. Do not make campuses a political lab!
