Re: [MTC Global] [Weekend Big Debate-I] Do you support curbing politics in Campus?

Actually it is the ' isms' which create the big 'chasms' which are then exploited by political parties. On one hand if active politics in campus is allowed, it would no doubt lead to students exploring new 'isms' along with the old theories of politics. The age old British formula of : Divide and Rule is still being well and truly exploited for party gains. Power corrupts and absolute power seems to be having a powerful infuence in corrupting further leading to a rot. We already see ruling party do Ghost hunting....Law is just for name sake.... and with political support, the goons and rowdy elements have no fear of police or law and that is the reason why you see an increasing number of rapes, murders, violence, thefts and what nots.... and we are all smug and content to proclaim that we are a tolerant lot. Cities which were once very peaceful - Southern cities like Bangalore, Chennai & Andhra Pradesh are now seeing a spurt in crime rate... girls being bludgeoned in full public view and we are smug and tolerant. The moment someone raises a voice against this...we stamp him as intolerant.
Politics has hit a lowest level.... Election Commission itself is now under a cloud of suspicion. Judiciary is fighting to retain control over its turf for appointing CJ's & High Court Judges which Center has been trying to influence. Uneducated thugs getting into politics would definitely spoil the image of the society and the country but the fear here is educated youths who turn to politics as a last resort instead of adopting it as a passionate career could endanger the system even further with half baked theories.
It is time for some real hard thinking on a system where we can have leaders who are free from prejudices of religion, caste, creed and color who truly reflect the spirit of an independent India.

Leadership demand has been existing since man's birth. Even in animals and plants we do find leaders. Any society/nation or world as a whole, human are after good or bad (anti-social) leaders in any sector of society like political, literacy, religion, industry, etc.

For example, in case of developing political leadership, one of the keys for good of all, most of our political leaders before, during and after independence have been churned out while many of them were/are in campuses, like, Lokmanya Tilak, Sawarkar, S C Bose, JP, Lalu Prasad Yadao, Nitish Kumar, N Modi, Dange, etc. University campus is a learning seat, a powerhouse generating ideas and building minds. Youth may select any ism as per his attitude and mind set, consolidated his/her thought process and follow the path when one enters in life affairs. Capitalism, communism, socialism, democracy, etc., are the tools for good of people, the variant much dynamic to be used as per the nation's need for survival.

We once adopted student elections in campuses, then withdrew and again adapted. Unfortunately, faculties and politicians have been playing their role for the scenario India has been witnessing since a year. Politics is like a blood flowing through the nerves of people without any age bar. Politics in fact is omnipotent and omniscience. But that at what stage and at what time it needs to be used is a matter of serious consideration for nation building as youths are the future leaders of a country.

The remedy of curbing politics from campuses is more dangerous than the decease itself. Let the students get acquainted with several isms and the ground reality of the nation, let them select any ism for their future journey as a citizen, and do not allow active politics of political parties in the campuses but they along with faculty and regulatory authorities can be allowed to educate/train young minds in the national interest, without any malice to none.

Students' Council like Teachers' Association, for  instance,  is a Statutory provision with well defined objectives but hardly accomplished. Why? Curb active politics of political parties in the campuses, and train young minds for their future journey as political leaders. Do not make campuses a political lab!

Let me add another question. Every country needs leaders (good or bad) and they have to be developed from young age. What should be the process of developing new leadership?

Where proposed New Education Policy recommends curbing politics in the Campus , HRD Ministry favours 'Campus Netas'

What is your take? This is turning to be a National Debate.
