Yes Sir. it is true. Some of the top B-Schools are conducting 1 week basic foundation for freshers on "Finance for non-finance students" as students from B.Sc Nursing can join MBA and they choose as Finance as specialisation. We do conduct half day to two days module on the above subject.
I have come across good b-Schools conduct 2 weeks basic English course, Excel, Communication workshops etc. during the first one or two weeks and bring them to the class room. Such B-Schools start 2 weeks ahead of regular class rooms.
I suggest the MBA colleges to emulate B-Schools in this regard.

Subject: [MTC Global] [Weekend Big Debate- I] Liberal arts or business education?
Employers seek "job-ready" students. Internships (paid or unpaid) have become the path to employment. To successfully snag an internship increasingly requires exposure to industry-focused coursework. Just as a business student should study humanities, a liberal arts student should be exposed to Excel and accounting. These are both integral to an undergraduate curriculum for the 21st century.----EDUCATE, EMPOWER, ELEVATEProf. Bholanath DuttaFounder & PresidentMTC Global: An Apex Global Advisory Bodyin Management Education, ISO 9001: 2008Partner: UN Global Compact I UN Academic ImpactCell: +91 96323 18178 / +91 9964660759
