Why has business education failed business? Why has it fallen so much in love with finance ? Most top MBA programs in the world still teach standard "markets know best" efficiency theory and preach that share price is the best representation of a firm's underlying value. This concept is proven wrong.

Nitin Nohria, dean of the Harvard Business School, admits, "anyone can teach you how to read a P&L [profit-and-loss statement] or value a derivative; those kinds of things have become commoditized." The bigger challenge is to teach future business leaders how to be curious, humane, and moral; how to think outside the box about problems like funding the research for a new blockbuster drug. And how to be strong enough to stand up to Wall Street when it demands the opposite.
