On the Buea case, it is not "adjourned indefinitely" as brother Nke
has reported. It will come up in November.
I highly appreciate pledges made by some of us to put their money for
any case against LRC in lRC court judged by lRC Judges answerable to
the Presidential Monarch Paul Biya who himself is the Chief Magistrate
and the law itself. Except for its nuisance value and to enable
newspapers have a market what else will it yield for the suffering
masses? Similar efforts have been made whether you knew and funded or
not; appeals to the highest court of the land for example concerning
the 1997 prisoners of conscience I have cried about their plight
without any paying attention, have not even been listed for hearing,
because of the Emperor's interest. Such a case even if Chief Lord
Justice Paul Ayah Abine, who himself is ready to lead the SCNC in the
dialogue with LRC, were to be on the Bench, may not yield the fruit.
This is not however to discourage the initiative and good effort. It
is to make us think harder.
On the other hand, as Mola and Denis hold, I am of the humble opinion
that there are issues to which prior attention should be given which
can better mobilise our people- the referendum- than the court matter.
This needs funding for to get desired results is not an issue of
sitting in your room and designing a sheet of paper or talking with
the keyboard of your laptop, it requires producing the materials,
going to the field and educating the masses and bringing back the
results. We are ready but we lack the means. This has a big double
advantage for the struggle. Let us be focused!
