Ah! Another "independence day," another death!
The Gates of Heaven were wide open awaiting his triumphal arrival. Among his greatest works was Lake God, which in his literary and poetic ways re-framed the lies of "a natural disaster" about Lake Nyos. As he departs, I hope the truth has and will be clearly told of minerals being looted by a corrupt international-domestic conspirators. Wonderfully enough, men like Prof. Bole Botake (like Prf. Bernard Fonlon before him) have stood their grounds and denounced corruption in all its forms, so much they denied themselves the affluence of this horrible but beautiful world. He sowed his seeds in Heaven, where the Angels await ushering him into the presence of the Lord!
Passing on 1st Oct. is very symbolic gesture to our collective enemies, especially those who have equally stood grounds against Yaounde and its oppressive tendencies. Maybe, Just maybe this is "the last October 1" we are failing to celebrate as our Independence Day.
I pray that as Bole Botake rejoins Our Heavenly Father, may he put directly our complaints to God Almighty one-on-one, so this may be the veritable end of life under oppression!
Our father, brother, teacher, friend, indeed a best booh!, you are free now, and one day, not long from today, before, on or after Christ returns, we shall be together in Glory and celebrate the New Glory Forever and ever!

The prolific Cameroonian academic and playwright, Professor Bole Butake is no more. The Professor of Literature dies, October 1 2016 at a Yaounde hospital.
Bole Butake, who was retired lecturer at the University of Yaounde I, is remembered for his refusal to be made Minister, used his literary works to denounce the plundering of state resources and the quest for personal agrandisement.
He was also very instrumental in the creation of the Anglophone Cameroon Writers Association, ACWA, published more than five books and was an epitome of crtical literary creativity in Cameroon.
