Senior SAP Project Manager

Role:-Senior SAP Project Manager

 Location: Regina city in Saskatchewan province of Canada

Duration: 6 Months


Client is undertaking a Program to upgrade its existing SAP ERP platform (SAP ECC 6.0 on Oracle) to SAP's new platform, S4 version 1610 on HANA.  This project will streamline business processes, simplify SAP infrastructure, and is the key program that International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS 15) program is dependent on.   
     
The SAP ERP (S/4 HANA) Upgrade Program will use the following phases/projects:

  1. Planning
  2. Blueprint (detailed design)
  3. Realization/Implementation
  4. Testing
  5. Go-Live

Currently, focused on the Planning Phase which is expected to be completed mid-end of November 2016.  The objective of this phase is focused on clearly defining the scope of the project, and setting up for the start of the blueprint project.      
   
Certifications and Education:

  • Project Management Professional (PMI-PMP) is required.
  • Certified in People Change Management (e.g. Prosci) is desired.
  • Certified in IT Service Management (e.g. ITIL) is desired.
  • Education and training normally gained through post-secondary education at the University or Technical Institute level in one of following: Computer Science/Business Administration/Engineering

Skills and Experience:    
     
requires the skills and expertise of a Senior SAP Project Manager to support Program Manager with the following:

  • Strong leadership skills
  • Proven strong Organization, Planning, Risk Analysis, Controlling, Negotiation, and Communication (verbal/written) skills required.
  • Proven experience in managing complex SAP technology projects (migration or conversions)
  • Proven experience in managing implementation(s) of the SAP enterprise on premise edition S4/HANA software, with integration to a company's other systems is a definite asset.
  • Proven experience in vendor manager
  • Proven experience working with multiple vendors and system integrators at the same time.
  • Expertise in using MS Project with experience in resourcing loading/leveling, calendaring, etc.  Ability to track risks, issues and work towards resolution or escalation is a definite requirement.
  • 8 - 10 years experience in a Senior Project Manager role
  • Previous telecom experience desired

Responsibilities:

  • Be responsible for project deliverables. In doing so the Consultant will be responsible for managing the: a.) Schedule; b.) Budget; c.) Scope; d.) Issues; e.) Risks; f.) Communications
  • Act as the single point of contact and escalation for the project.
  • Be responsible to ensure working team deliverables are established and clear for all team members and vendors.
  • Ensure communications between project members, stakeholders and the Sponsor(s) is optimized for responsiveness, accuracy and full project team inclusion.
  • Manage the overall project including: a.) Facilitating the development of a Business Case using templates and processes. This may require establishing vendor RFx and Statements of Work; b.) Facilitating the development of a Project Plan using templates and processes; c.) Establishing the project schedule, monitoring schedule performance and reporting on progress; d.) Monitoring spending and ensuring adherence to budget.
  • Authoring and leading the collaborative activities in creating a business case (or lower document) to authorized the funding expenditures of assigned projects.
  • Establishing or updating a project plan. The plan will: a.) Make use of the template for a project plan; b.) Include a schedule with milestones to allow short term objectives over the duration of the project. MS Project must be used unless the Consultant gains support for an alternative means to MS Project. The Consultant may be expected to create a Work Breakdown Structure to support planning of the project. c.) Include a cost budget.
  • Monitoring schedule performance and reporting on progress.
  • Monitoring spending and ensuring adherence to budget.
  • Monitoring work activities included in the project scope to ensure they are aligned with the project's product scope.
  • Assisting other managers in obtaining the necessary resources and skill sets for the project.
  • Leading the creation of and/or updating of the Architectural Building Permit for IT related projects or IT components of Telecom projects.
  • Managing and/or issuing a RFP to acquire other services and/or products as required by the project.
  • Managing the Statements of Work requirements and work progress of the third party vendors that provide SME resourcing. This may include the creation of additional SOWs as required by the project.
  • Leading the creation of and updating of the High Level Design document and Detailed Design document. These documents are to cover: a.) Hardware or network platforms and related IT infrastructure; b.) Networking configurations;  c.) Business process changes
  • Creating and managing an Issues and Actions Log.
  • Working toward resolution or escalation of issues.
  • Monitoring and managing the Risk Register.
  • Authoring project status reports including monthly reporting mechanism.
  • Leading the creation of and updating of an Implementation Plan.
  • Using People Change Management methodologies into assigned projects.
  • Authoring Change Requests and Re-authorization documentation, as required.
  • Authoring or leading the creation of Quality Assurance documentation including an Acceptance Test Plan.
  • Authoring a Project Completion Report (or cancellation report) and lead or participate in Lessons Learned activities.
  • Maintaining a Sharepoint Project Site.
  • Manage the project in line with the PMI (PMBOK) guidelines where processes do not cover.
