 Job Title       :  Server Operation Programming & Support

Location        :  New York, NY

Duration       :  6-8 Months contract

Interview      :  Phone Followed by Face to Face

Visa                 :  USC, GC, GC-EAD, H1B locals only 

 


Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the Unix and Linux server administration for all Distribution Electric Control Center (DECC) servers located in 4 DECC supported site server rooms, and as such.
  • Be responsible for ensuring the reliability of all servers and related equipment.
  • Perform daily maintenance and troubleshooting of servers, verify and ensure tape backups are scheduled and successful on a daily basis.
  • Will work as a team member under guidance of the Team Leader and work with other IR groups to determine a need for any server or infrastructure upgrades and will participate in configuring, designing and implementing such upgrades.
  • Develop and maintain detailed server statistics with server monitoring tools.
  • Implement and track all servers moves, adds and changes at all server sites in their assigned area.
  • Responsible for new server technology support involving server provisioning and server virtualization.
  • Will also be assigned projects to automate various manual processes through scripting.


Required Skills:

  • Strong technical understanding and proficiency in HPUX Clusters, HPVM and Blade server technology, RHEL and HPUX operating system administration
  • Senior Level UNIX/Linux systems administration
  • Expert knowledge of HPUX v11.31 with Serviceguard and Veritas Cluster File System, Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) versions 5.x, 6.x, 7.x, , RHEL Pacemaker Clusters.
  • Server builds and installation of required software
  • SAN Fiber Storage administration including HP, EMC and NetApp SANS
  • Good shell scripting skills with bash, ksh
  • Experience using Symantec Netbackup and Data Protector for UNIX/Linux
  • Strong commitment to customer service
  • Well organized, detail-oriented, and flexible
  • Able to handle multiple assignments and meet deadlines.
  • Able to exercise good judgment and render sound business decisions.
  • Must possess strong oral and written communication skills
  • Capable of developing high level documentation

Preferred Skills:

  • HP Certifications, HP Virtualization, HP Blade and Virtual Connect experience, Red Hat certification, Data Protector knowledge, MS Office, VMware VCP certifications, knowledge and experience with SAN storage, Red Hat Satellite server, SharePoint, and Windows skills are a plus.
