Egypt is selling two Islands to Saudi Arabia
According to Egyptian state television, Egypt's government has approved a deal to hand over two Red Sea islands to Saudi Arabia and has sent it to parliament for quick ratification.
Although Egypt government maintains that it is transferring the 2 Islands to Saudi Arabia but fact is Egypt is systematically selling two of it's Islands to Saudi Arabia who is ready to offer it's oil money in return. A move that has been criticized an highly condemned by the Egyptians and the world in general. However, Egypt has the final say over it's Islands.
The agreement was previously announced by the Egyptian Government in April this year but the citizens took to the street to protest against it because the uninhabited islands of Tiran and Sanafir belong go Egypt.
Critics believe that the corrupt Egyptian Government are out to enrich themselves to the detriment of the poor masses because there is no reason whatsoever to give away the above named Islands to Saudi Arabia.
The agreement, announced in April, caused a public uproar and rare protests by Egyptians who said the uninhabited islands of Tiran and Sanafir were Egyptian.
The Egyptian government lodged an appeal in June after the Higher Administrative Court annulled the agreement, saying Egyptian sovereignty over the islands could not be given up. Imagine a government lodging an appeal to give away it's sovereign Islands to another country. What a pity.
Few weeks ago, an Egyptian state advisory body recommended that a Cairo court uphold a ruling that annulled an agreement giving Saudi Arabia control over the islands of Tiran and Sanafir which belong to Egypt.
