STOP ALL NEGOTIATIONS NOW!

STOP ALL NEGOTIATIONS NOW!

  1. Members of the Consortium/Teachers and Lawyers seem to have tasted power (if we may so say) and found it sweet. They appear to want to constitute themselves into the spokespersons of the Southern Cameroons cause. But their position is completely untenable. On the one hand they fear the word "independence" and want to be seen to be acting as representatives of the so-called Anglophone "sub-system" within Republique du Cameroun.  They will not also use the term "Southern Cameroons". They keep talking of "Anglophone problem", federation and marginalisation, when the whole Southern Cameroons public is talking of colonisation, annexation and complete independence from Republique du Cameroun! They say they are not politicians, but have put on the table the question of return to federation, which is highly political!
  2. How can the Consortium/Lawyers and Teachers represent the Southern Cameroons when they want to be seen as belonging to a sub-system within Republique and acting within the rules of Republique, while the rest of the population is insisting on complete separation from the oppressors? How can they represent the people when they are insisting on making their problem a domestic affair of Republique du Cameroun, while the Southern Cameroons problem is pre-eminently an international matter; a boundary dispute; a matter of the illegal occupation of the territory of the Southern Cameroons by Republique du Cameroun?
  3. Are they trying to prove something? What do they want to prove through the talks that has not been proven a thousand times over within the last 55 years? Do they want to show that Republique is of bad faith? That it cannot grant their basic demands? What exactly do they want to prove, and to who, by engaging in these talks? If that is what they want to prove, then indeed they have been living in another world, because there is a mountain of evidence to show the bad faith of Republique; its colonisation of the Southern Cameroons; its determined and premeditated efforts to destroy the people of the Southern Cameroons. Republique has so far refused the constructive dialogue proposed by the African Commission on Human and Peoples' Rights; it continues to suppress Southern Cameroonian freedom of speech and assembly; to kill and murder our children; kidnap and take them to its own country, and so on.  What kind of evidence are we still looking for?
  4. The people of Southern Cameroons do not want speeches and communiqués from lawyers/teachers. We want them to answer the questions we are asking them. Only clear answers to these questions will assure us that something is not terribly wrong with what they are doing. And we fear that something will go very, very wrong!
  5. By going into those talks, we have voluntarily lent ourselves to be used by Republique for its propaganda. Republique has all the instruments of propaganda; we don't have any. It will tell the world that our problems are already being addressed in the ongoing negotiations, or even that they have been solved. What will you do?
  6. Are there going to be two sets of dialogue: one for the teachers and lawyers and after that the other one for the rest of Southern Cameroons to talk about the withdrawal of Republique du Cameroun from the Southern Cameroons territory?
  7. Since the talks by teachers and lawyers are entirely a domestic affair of Republique du Cameroun, will they be capable of addressing the issue of the withdrawal of Republique du Cameroun from the territory of the Southern Cameroons?
  8. Let us say that the ongoing talks by lawyers and teachers with Republique fail. What next? Do the lawyers/teachers now say that Southern Cameroonian politicians and liberation movements should take over? Do the lawyers/teachers now accept to sit down together with various liberation movements to chart the way forward? So why have the lawyers and teachers not seen the need up till now to sit down with the various liberation movements? Where do the lawyers/teachers take the evidence of the failure for further action?
  9. If Republique grants all the demands, including federation, what happens? Do the lawyers and teachers now accept to enlarge the negotiations to include various Southern Cameroons liberation movements? Do they withdraw and pass the negotiations on to them or what? Who has determined the kind of federation that the lawyers/teachers are talking about? Do the lawyers and teachers simply ignore the various Southern Cameroons liberation movements and continue with the negotiations? Let them tell us their game plan, for goodness sake!
  10. I have not yet considered the looming danger of the Lawyers/Teachers compromising the struggle, whether knowingly or unknowingly. But it is there, since they have voluntarily decided to tempt the devil by going into these negotiations whose agenda, terms and composition are dictated entirely by the colonial regime.
  11.  The minimum condition for any dialogue with Republique du Cameroun have always been that such dialogue will be accepted by Southern Cameroons only in the presence of a neutral international body and that the withdrawal of Republique du Cameroun from the Southern Cameroons territory must be on the agenda. All other issues will follow from these.
  12.  Finally, let us say the lawyers/teachers succeed in the sense that La Republique grants their demands, we come to the herculean task: by what means do they guarantee that La Republique will ever respect its agreements?  La Republique has violated every single agreement it made concerning the Southern Cameroons, even those made at the UN. So let the lawyers/teachers tell us how they intend to safeguard any agreement reached with Republique du Cameroun! This is one of the reasons why all right-thinking Southern Cameroonians rule out completely any hope of a one-Cameroon formula! We simply cannot accept to share one space of existence with Republique du Cameroun, period. Our refusal to share one space of existence with Republique is not simply linked to their complete inability to honour any agreement with us. It is first and foremost linked to the game of numbers, which ensures, no matter what laws you make, that we will be a perpetual minority in everything if we ever join our country with their own. A family of two going to join a family of twenty can never hope to get a breathing space.
  13.  In view of the foregoing, we are calling on the lawyers/teachers to suspend and completely stop all negotiations with the colonial regime. They can only help obscure our problems and create confusion among southern Cameroons actors. Worst of all, we give the foolish impression that our problems are capable of being solved within any one-Cameroon formula. That is simply impossible!!!!!

A MESSAGE TO SOUTHERN CAMEROONS CITIZENS IN THE POLICE & MILITARY

After having watched and heard what happened in Buea, Bamenda, Kumba and in the streets of other towns of Southern Cameroons, I ask you the following:
1) Were YOU also involved in the killing, maiming and raping of your own unarmed children and siblings?
2) If YOU were not, and saw it happening, what did you do? or what can you do about it?
3) Do you still believe in the commander in chief garbage, when asked by some dictatorial hierarchy to kill and maim unarmed citizens?
4) Do you remember that in life, there is crime of commission as well as crime of omission?

5) Do you know that currently, you are committing crimes of omission by even standing and watching while Yaounde slaughter children in Southern Cameroons?
