Job Description:

 

Must Haves:

  • AWS (Cloud, EC2 etc.)
  • Oracle 12c RAC environment
  • Postgres experience

 

Responsibilities:

  • Performs all Oracle Database Administration related activities for major ETS projects independently with minimal supervision.
  • Install and upgrade and manage Oracle RAC databases with ASM as required on Linux and Solaris Operating systems.
  • Install, Upgrade and manage Oracle Grid Control system
  • Troubleshoot and resolve RAC and Veritas clustering issues in all database environments
  • Schedules and coordinates database maintenance activities. 
  • Strong capability and ability to resolve highly technical and complex database and infrastructure related issues on their own before they impact production and ETS business.
  • Provides technical expertise to the development of solutions for such items as DBMS tools and utilities usage, database administration, backup and recovery, database performance tuning and monitoring.
  • Performs database migrations, upgrades and structure migrations.
  • Ability to influence development organizations to comply with database best practices and ETS database standards and practices.
  • Runs transaction access path analysis sessions with application developers, analyzing specifications and code to ensure that data access and database designs are as efficient as possible. Make recommendations for improvements in these areas, if necessary.
  • Assures quality of database analysis and design across projects, thus enabling company-wide data reusability.
  • Trouble-shoots database and/or software problems as they apply to design, implementation, or installation activities.
  • Schedules and coordinates database maintenance activities including such items as database reorganizations and restructures.
  • Coordinates and/or participates in database stress tests, analyzes results, and makes recommendations for design or coding changes based upon those results.
  • Participates in on-call, overnight off-hour production problem resolution activities.
  • Develops and maintains DBMS related standards and procedures, knows where they are located, and makes full use of them. Follows ETS software development processes.
  • Researches, evaluates, and tests new software and DBMS related tools and facilities as they pertain to the existing DBMS environment, database designs, procedures, and applications.
  • Monitors current DBMS performance and develops procedures, where necessary, to improve the DBMS environment as required.
  • Identifies and supports quality improvement initiatives.
  • Performs other assignments to comply with the SR&T corporate purpose and mission to add business value, increase revenue, decrease costs, improve productivity, and support the strategic initiative/directive.
  • Complies with all ETS security and audit standards. Ensures security of company information by ensuring database is secure and monitors environment to identify improper access.

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Demonstrate recent, professional exposure to support alternate RDBMS database flavors like MS SQLSERVER, Postgres highly preferred. Experience on Amazon Web Services or Azure with database support in IaaS or PaaS preferred. Experience with automation tools (Ansible, Jenkins) & container technologies (Docker, CoreOS) is a plus.
  • 10-12 years of experience, with at least the last 5-7 years as Lead Oracle DBA on all aspects of Oracle Database Administration in a large/challenging database environment on Unix / Linux platform. Experience supporting internet/web based database applications with heavy concurrent user volume.
  • Experience working on 10g/11g RAC database applications, Oracle TDE, OEM Grid control, RMAN.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills Good UNIX Sun Solaris, Linux knowledge and scripting is a plus.
  • Skilled in SQL statement tuning with detailed understating of AWR and StatsPack reports, database performance tuning.
  •  Basic understanding of Connection pooling and middleware software like JBoss, JRun, Tom Cat, IBM Web sphere is desired.
  • Hands on Experience of implementing Oracle 9i, 10g and 11g database on UNIX and Linux platform is a must.
  • Willingness to work on-call DBA rotations in a 7x24 environment Ability to perform professional level technical documentation and presentation.
  • Ability to create and maintain positive and professional business relationships with both internal associates and external customers.
  • Must be able to work effectively in a team environment Proficient at time and priority management.

 

 Education: The candidate should have a Bachelor degree or Masters in Computer Science or 7 to 10 years of related experience in IT or a related field.

2. Provide justification (explain why you need the contractor and why management should approve):

• Backfill existing DBA position.

Primary / Backup DBA for all the below applications He is responsible for 

1. Building and deploying the database RAC clusters to support all new projects and applications

2. Oracle 12G upgrades

3. Oracle PSU patching for all databases

4. Provide 24*7 on call support all active production and non-production databases at ETS

 

 

 

Note: We are Working with tier-1 Vendor.
