Re: [MTC Global] As a teacher, what is the harshest truth a studenthas ever t...

Actually it has become a fashion to adopt a term to suit self branding. Evangelism and Evangelist are actually related to Christian way of living. Evangelism is spreading the Christian  gospel by public speaking. This term goes back  more than 2,000 years ago when selected members were trained in the unraveling of hidden meanings of the scriptures and they were sent out by the Church to spread awareness. However many countries dubbed them as people who resorted to conversion - more widely so in India. Religion is something which is very intrinsic to everyone as from a child we grow up following certain customs and traditions through learnt behavior from our elders, seers and society. This has been often exploited by our politician and there is a politician inside every individual.
So maybe the term Academic Evangelist is a borrowed term which signifies that the person wants to spread positive influence through his teachings, writings and sharing for the betterment of the society.

Cheers!
