The purpose and structure of higher education will need to shift to keep pace with changes in the workforce. Instead of the industrial model of education, where students follow a prescribed curricula delivered largely in formal classroom settings, higher education in the future will need to equip students with collaborative, problem-solving skills to self-direct their own learning for life in way that allows them to complement rather than try to compete with technology.
