What skills are you alluding to?
"Miserable & Magical" aren't just a dichotomy – they are two sides of the same coin. It's the paradox that millennials are (sub)consciously stuck in?!
Time magazine called Millennials as "Me Me Me Generation". They are the epitome of "self serving-I, me, mine; not we, us, ours".
Gen Y students are known as 'netizens' and the internet to which they are hooked to always, makes them well informed – many a time much more informed than the parents. They are also known for their extraordinary networking skills and have more friends than we could ever imagine. Of course it includes virtual friends too. They have an urge to be independent and decide their future!(Source :google)
It's the crisis of disconnection in the 'hyper' connected modern world....that's the paradox!
No matter how much in love you are with the gadgets, and how good they make you feel, it is very important to safeguard the inner you. Every now and then it is important to reconnect with our own self and to do something just for yourself – something that gives you joy, nourishment, camaraderie, liveliness, belongingness, rejuvenation.
As young persons, the Millennials are tempted to lend deaf ear to people freely doling out advice. (Ref Panca Kosa)

BUT THE PARENT-TEACHER IN ME DOESN'T ACCEPT THIS LINE OF ARGUMENT.
It is my volition to offer advice solicited or unsolicited for I consider it my privileged duty to help the so called youngsters (my students) not to go astray! I believe in postulating DHRUVA USP "Don't care, Face the brute". Willingness to be bold and strike out in new directions in the minds of students-willing or unwilling!
My take:

LET THE GEN "Y" STUDENTS FIRST LEAR विनयं WHICH BEING A "TRANSFERABLE SKILL" KEEPS THEM IN GOOD STEAD & WILL SURE COMPLEMENT OTHER SKILLS THAT PROBABLY MAKE THEM EMPLOYABLE !
