Re: [MTC Global] The future of education is all about inter-disciplinary education

Digitization is the revolutionary tool that has been significantly affecting one and all functioning/behavior of not only of man but also of other living organisms as well.In essence information is omnipotent and omniscience and can be put to use for man's growth. I am expecting that within next 50 years, digitization will be replaced by some other abstract technique (hard to predict or to name now)and phenomena like mind-reading, mind controlling, change in size and shape (becoming larger or smaller in size), enhancing life span to 150 years,  etc., will be a common business.

Dear All,
Why to prioritize Internet of Things? Enclosed here please find executive summary of the report by McKinsey and Company.
  • IoT has a total potential economic impact of $3.9 trillion to $11.1 trillion a year by 2025. At the top  end, that level of value—including the consumer surplus—would be equivalent to about 11 percent of the world economy
The Internet of Things (IoT) involves connected products, assets, fleets, infrastructures, markets, and people; opportunities for connected people exist across three key dimensions:
  • People and work
  • People and health
  • People and homes
IoT can enhance people's work, health, and lives. It can enable better lifestyle experiences and stronger communities.
  • Organizations can leverage IoT, cloud  computing, data analytics, and related technologies to offer connected people new services in real time – all highly tailored to individual activities, locations, and needs.
Warm regards,
G.S.Autee

Dear All,
Thanks for a valuable suggestion by Prof. Syed Ameen; this may be immediately implemented, as expert lectures to begin with, by engineering faculty.
In the long-term, we need to create resources, draft curriculum and launch multi disciplinary programs in great demand, for example:
  •  Management of Business Applications - Internet of Things. MBA (IoT)
  • Management of Business Applications - Distributed Ledger Technology, MBA (DLT) for Blockchain
Warm regards,

There are many engineering colleges running management courses, being in the same campus, students of management streams will have little or no knowledge of what actually engineering is all about and engineering student lack knowledge of management studies.

Need of the hour is to make students know at least something about everything.

Thanks Professor Pious for a wonderful proposal.

Today's scenario in India is:

  1. Degrees are almost water tight compartments.
  2. Even in case of Electives at UG level, most of the colleges offer a single  Elective turning it into as if  a compulsory. course.
  3. Departments can offer some specialized prg packages but what needs to be done is to maintain a proper  proportion between parent courses and specialized rgs courses.   I think 15-20 % courses be from the specialized prgs package, remaining from the parent Department that is reflected in the title of the Degree to be awarded.
  4. For instance, assuming that  for a four year degree prg, students to take 40 courses,  a Mechanical guy can offer 8 courses from specialized package courses  like music, paining, finance, HR, Harvesting, Farming, etc. of his choice/passion and remaining from Mechanical and its related areas as Computer, Electrical, Electronics, Management and Economics. This may add more complexity to the system but worth risk taking.

CBCS - Choice Based Curriculum System is a good method.

Every department in Higher Education Institution will have a specialized program offered, which can be taken by any students.

Students should take up these subjects (Practical Based) according to their passion.
