Re: [MTC Global] Corruption Issues and Challenges in India

Sir, Corruption is due mainly to culture of the society. We all follow the law when
someone enforces it, but will we follow the law when no one is looking.
Get a corrupt leader and the whole set up is corrupted. Get a clean leader and one can
expect a clean team also and in the process the spread of corruption is thwarted.

It is also a perspective that services that one receives should be free. If a host of
services are opened up to private citizens to provide then a lot of corruption will go
away.Take the case of getting PAN card. Earlier one had to apply to the IT dept and wait
for the outcome. Impatient people hired touts to expedite the process and the consequent
corruption is evident. When the services were opened up, a flat charge of Rs 100 per pan
card ensured that the work was done without the hassles.

Too many regulators and Govt contact points, Excessive regulations, too many restrictive
laws, poor monitoring of the processes, retaining inefficient and incompetent within the
Govt. These are a few of the hygiene factors that can clean up a lot of corruption.
