Re: [MTC Global] Research no longer must for promotion of college professors: HRD Minister

During my B. E., a teacher use to bring a notes and read from it. We were told that the notes was given by his Teacher.

I have seen the teachers in many colleges do some other business or share trading and the job is to get salary. Job is over for the day once they teach in scheduled periods and later you cannot see them in the campus.

Research is not for publications alone. Research is to make the teacher  up to date on the subject and to improve quality of teaching. Publications are a measure of research effort.

This is a rather retrogade step.

India is already lagging behind China and most others in the quantum and quality of research output and will slip further down

Because of such rules only education industry has a long way to develop. The HRD minister doesn't understand that research and teaching goes hand in hand.
