Dear All,
CPGA or CBCS are wonderful tools provided they are observed in letter and spirit, and need to be well statistically founded. .

Subject: Re: [MTC Global] Understanding CBCS--If class average is the pass mark, would not half the class fail, regardless of how low or how high the average is?This is because roughly half the class is likely to have marks below the class average.Regards,R. Pro's:
- Class average is the pass mark. No need to score 50% to pass and stuff. This has reduced the chances of getting arrears incredibly. On an average, only 2–3 people might get arrears from any given class.
- Tougher the papers, lesser the pass mark, lesser the chances of arrears. So you needn't worry about those inhumane question papers or strictly evaluating staff.
- You choose your teachers. If you happen to do the registration(for staff) as quickly as possible, you can always get the best set of teachers on the table.
- The classmates you are with, is going to be dynamic. Different set of people for every class. A nice way to know new people from your department and to acquaint with them.
Con's:
- A railway reservation-like registration for staff and enrollment for courses can be a tad irritating, especially with sick AU servers.
- You almost never have a stable gang of friends. They keep shifting classes, and it can be a little pain-in-the-ass sort of thing in the long run.
- The class nerds receive so much hate (LOL :p). They are one of the main reasons why average might go up.
- No use of those extremely lenient teachers. I mean, if they are going to mark everyone with good grades, the average is up, and it is no way beneficial to anybody. They are almost a bane in CBCS, as you might end up with a not-so-great grade even if you're one of the top performers in your course.
