[MTC Global] Ask Big Questions @ SOLE: Self-Organized Learning Environment

Dear All,
Inclusive, high-quality education and lifelong learning is one of the 17 sustainable development goals (SDGs) defined by the United Nations to transform the global civilization.
  • Being agile and continuously learning means staying relevant.
  • We must each address this massive transformation to create our future and that of future generations.
  • Keep moving forward.: Learn, unlearn, and relearn. Be proactive and agile, embrace technology, and create new experiences for all.
Education innovator Sugata Mitra shows a simple method known as a SOLE session. SOLE stands for Self-Organized Learning Environment,
  • Step 1: Set aside an hour to recharge your curiosity.
  • Step 2: To come up with a question, think big — really big.
  • Step 3: Agree to disagree. Step 4: Draw on the wisdom of the crowd.
  • Step 5: Repeat as needed.
Big Questions are those that inspire students to explore all possibilities – there should be no easy answer! Here's a selection from the global SOLE community to get you started – feel free to suggest yours to be included.
  • You can also find a list of sample questions here.

  • Mitra recently ran a SOLE for school principals in Hong Kong and their question was, What is the future of exams?
A SOLE is a safe space to practice what management expert Margaret Heffernan calls "constructive conflict."
Warm regards,
