[MTC Global] UGC 2017 Update | All Set To Award Degrees For Online Courses in India

UGC is all set to recognize Online Educational courses offered by Indian Universities by awarding UGC degrees on the course completion. Finalizing the drafting rules and regulations on the online education courses by leading Universities in India, UGC is planning strategies as to how to go about the entire process of awarding degrees to the students on successful completion of online degree courses in India.

Also, taking into account the considerations and take of opinion by the public, UGC is open to suggestions of the common man which can be submitted till August 18, 2017 this year.

UGC 2017 Online Education Regulations Drafted 

Working on a rough draft on rules and regulations to be laid for the proper functioning and working of Indian universities offering Online Degree courses to have a quality education system in an online mode, UGC is all set to recognize such courses soon.

Working tirelessly towards online education system in India, UGC previously released an official notification to all the educational institutes imparting Higher Education in India to seek fresh approval from UGC in order to get acknowledgment and recognition from the University Grants Commission. Furthermore, UGC has also made Aadhar Card mandatory for candidates seeking admission into online courses for bio-metric attendance system to increase authentication.

UGC 2017 : Degrees For Online Courses in India

Here are the highlights of the Online Degree courses in India offered by Universities under UGC recognition.

  • Universities offering online degree courses to make sure NAAC accreditation
  • The minimum score of 3.25 out of 4 has to be maintained by such universities to get UGC recognition
  • Candidates need to have Adhar Card mandatory before enrolling themselves for admission into online courses
  • The move shall benefit rural areas in remote and distant locations where still there are no educational institutions of repute
  • Also, working professionals who wish to continue their jobs while studying are benefited from the move
  • The examinations shall be conducted in a proctored manner as UGC guidelines state
  • Also, audio-video recording using Webcam to be done whilst candidates appear for examinations under UGC recognized online course

As of now, UGC does not recognize such courses made available online. But, amending itself with the changing needs of the time and revolutionizing the Indian education system, UGC has taken a stand that if application forms, admissions, tests, entrance and recruitment exams etc. are being operated online, why can't such courses be? Well, that's how we define evolution in Education. Isn't it?
