[MTC Global] What is Management today !!

Dear MTC G colleagues

What is Management in 2017 ? . 

There is a strong need to understand management from a holistic perspective with contemporary relevance & sustainable orientation. 

Excessive commercialization, poor quality of students , wide gap in what the industry / market wants & what is being offered & lack of faculty training has hit Management education in multifarious ways.

After many intactions with working professionals & also going thru various posts on Placements, Quality, Standards, relevance of Management education, following is my viewpoint.

Why Corporates are visiting only tier A colleges & top B schools ?

Answer : Enable an effective Faculty  & Practicing managers interaction - ASAP: 

"80% of success is turning up" -- Woody Allen.

Owners , Chairmen, Secretary of Management institutions / groups of colleges have to take a call. 

When a management college or a university conducts a seminar, workshop or even arranges a guest lecture, please invite the right persons. Not just a known acquaintance or corporate glib talkers & those who impart gyan on management of 80"s. Everyone loses, more so the ignorant students. 

Faculty without industry experience or exposure have to spend time with the corporate managers , professionals, entrepreneurs to share , learn and get updated on the contemporary practices in Mgt. 

There is nothing to analyze or feel about ; that is the way it is. A faculty teaching a CRM or Operations Mgt or OB or Change management must have an understanding of the industry environment today from various dimensions– how a retail company operates, a health care/ IT company delivers, an infra company implements projects, how flexi manufacturing happens or an engg company designs a product.

Owners of management institutions and management faculty must go out of the way and invite managers from industry & experienced faculty with industry exposure --

for continuously interacting with students and faculty In separate sessions. Efforts are needed before situation goes completely out of hands. 

Then , the faculty can relate and connect better with the students. 

It will also address other challenges like admissions, projects or placements either.
