Re: [MTC Global] Corruption and Independence

Namaste!
On this Independence day the first mail I read is about the corruption in this country and this just as I was putting down a write up on 'what does it mean to be Independent and in an Independent democratic country'.
How ironical that the first article I read blames the Government and its various bodies of corruption.
When I hear the Gorakhpur horror and the various terminologies ,I just want to scream not only at the horror but at the bloody pretense of horror and empathy and kindness swelling in the hearts of the media. They are unable to comprehend why the Government just goes about its business taking in its stride the death of innumerable babies and children and throw some excuse at the people  and clearly indicating that this is the end of the story.
This is just one of those little things that happen on an everyday basis.
IF we press the pause button we know why it happens everyday and moment of this country.Because we as a people ,especially those who are in their 40s and fifities and more wrote away their freedom  and their power. My generation continued to live in the fear that we had had for the British. It didnt ever sink in their minds that they were a free nation and were free people and that the power was vested in their hands to move this country in any direction they wanted.
And we made a choice-to jump on the bandwagon of becoming rich through the easiest of means. Lets not forget the first case of corruption happened in 1957 in this country. We watched the rise of the new Maharajas and the servility in us just took over.
Not one of those or any wrong doing can happen if we as a people fought it.
We are partners in crime because we also pay bribes and we also contribute to the destruction of the environment. In which other country do we have to cajole people to use a toilet? We throw garbage;the educated dont write about the wrong doings  or fight. We the educated choose to vote by caste, to NOT vote at all because we are busy or because we dont think it is important or because we believe they are all scoundrels so why vote and then we have these as our leaders and DECISION MAKERS who decide my future.
WE dont teach our young politics and governance because....
If this mail comes back to the forum ( because it has some difficult questions here) ...then lets look at our best gift we were ever given: independence to choose the right from the wrong.
Lets participate in an ACTIVE democracy-join forums fighting the wrong and pushing back the evil.
How many of us read about the zoning? how many willing to join hands with those fighting it tooth and nail? how about tree cutting? about resident groups? about ward committees?
Lets us support the Government whatever the political affiliations in its good and fight back what isnt. Then we dont have to talk about corruption

Namasthe,

I write this mail in the early morning (4 a.m.) of August 15th admidst heavy rain around.  It is the usual heavy rain, not floods.  What I visualize as I am writing this mail is almost half of Bengaluru's roads will be filled with water.  Houses in many low lying areas  will be drowned in water.

It is unfortunate that we are even now unable to manage these routine rains, in spite of the fact that drainage system technology is as old as the Harrappa and Mahenjadaro.  The reasons are three - 1. Corruption, 2. Corruption and 3. Corruption.  It is not just about Bengaluru, but the most nagara palike's in the country could be so.

With reference to Bengaluru BBMP, (Bruhat Brashta Maha Palike) is only a body to only give away contracts on various unwanted projects, and hardly bothered about developing the city in a real, honest sense.

Some of them which we can see everyday as we move around in Bengaluru are:

Repeated re- laying of foot paths, with even the good foot paths are removed and laid again and again.

Repeated removal of bus stop shelters every every to construct a new ones, almost every year or two, with even today no bus stop shelters are available in hundreds of stops where people have to stand in rain.

Absolutely poor quality roads which go worse every now and then requiring re laying or being happy with the pot hole ridden worst quality roads.

I have repeatedly written mails to various authorities on persisting corrupt attitudes of BBMP.  Hardly anyone cares.   I have thousands of photoes to prove the above facts.  Some of these I have put in social media in the form of powerpoint presentations.    If you have not come across the ppts, kindly see these ppts. Time is the only limit for me to prepare more presentations on other issues.  I wish you just watch this ppt first, before going through the next part of my mail.  It might take 2 minutes.  But I have put in lot of effort to make it.

(KBS welcomes you!!)

Seeing this one can easily understand why we are unable to manage simple Dengue!  It is because of the absolute carelessness and corrupt attitudes of the BBMP

Later, you may watch some other ppts.

It might be noted that these corrupt issues are those which everyone of us can witness as we move around daily in Bengaluru.  When there is so much corrupt practices in what public can see, then what would be the corrupt practices withing?

BBMP and the Governments are responsible for the situation.  What is the use of all the technologies, technological developments?  when there is corruption all around.   We are unable to manage the routine rains, in spite of spending millions of crores of rupees over 70 years.

I wish this Independence Day we will raise over voice for a corruption free country.  It is only then that there is some meaning to celebrate it.

Hope we have independence from corrupt hands soon
