My reflection:

1. As per University Act one week means 6 days working (some institutes follow 5 days a week) and 40 hours/week working norms.
2. For each Semester actual teaching working weeks are 15 (90 teaching days, or 180 days pa).
3. The one year cycle works out as : 180 days actual teaching+12 days CL+50 days vacation+22 public holidays+50 Sundays+51 Exam, preparatory, Term work submission, etc. = 365 days.
4. AICTE says average teaching load/faculty is 14 credits/week (AP, AsP and P): one theory hour= one credit, 2 Hours of Practical/seminar/tutorial/project= one credit. But in practice (?) one hour theory=one hour practical=one credit!
5. In practice: loads are normally: Principal: 4 hours/week, AP=16 hours/week. AsP=12 hours/week, Professor/HOD= 8 hours/week.
6. The efficiency of actual teaching engagement (i.e., number of hours actually engaged pa/Target set pa) varies in the range 30% - 70%.
7. It is eye opening to compute expenses/hour on annual basis.
