Re: [MTC Global] [Weekend Big Debate-I] Can Teachers Fix the Education System?

Teachers are the only resource to effect any change in the education system and attempt to fix it. For this only those teachers who have the requisite skills and willingness to learn and aptitude for self development would be able to make an impact.

Teachers with long years of teaching experience are not necessarily equipped to make any systemic change or 'fix' the system, as they live by the system that they have mastered.

We are still complaining of NCERT books being below standards, coming with spelling errors etc ....how can we ever let that command what our kids should learn. can we trust this dated knowledge. Rather schools and teachers who adopt and strictly follow a dynamic system of curriculum management are the only institutions who know what is to be done and how to do it......FIX the system. Besides, if they are not tech savvy, no one believes and trusts what they can do or have done.

Lets do a poll and check from the group......how many members children go to schools with flexible and dynamic curriculum systems or is anyone aware of any such school in India.

Lets review this and then ask to FIXING it with a viable solution and not with old an conventional approaches which have not delivered up to expectations. I do mean to keep aside the small token percentage of successful Indian and worried about the rest 90+% of population. The boards are doing their bit in restricting change and damaging the system further. Members may already be aware of the same.

Yes, Teachers are the only resource and they have to be empowered to fix the system as a 'continuous process' as it will become irrelevant within 3-4 years or so.

Cheers!

Yes, infact only teacher can change.

Think of great teachers of society- swami vivekanand, gautam buddha

Think of top institutions across globe and field of studies, it's teachers who are central and bring results

Think of super30 and likes

Can we think of education system without teacher ,no., since teacher is core aspect to education ecosystem and core can only change.

Dear All,
Individual class room problem could be fixed by a teacher. However, many problems are at systemic level and require changes at policy level. they are complex and requires Government/organisational effort.

Certainly, Yes provided:
  1. Teacher so means it from within and
  2. Remove any constraint, if any, of the environment on such teachers.
