In each case, when the time came for it, each UN trust territory acceded to independence. What was, or is, so special about us that anybody should give thought to a federation with whoever. The Republic of Cameroon never sleeps as we seem to be doing. They are on several fronts and this federation option is one of them. They actually encourage the option, with the intention that at some point they will tell the world how they have accepted our request for a federation. Then if it happens, the final nail would have be done with on our coffin. Or does anyone doubt that such a federation will be based on their terms? I suggest that we do not even entertain things that do not concern us because, as I have said it often, they are intended to distract us and.to gradually make their options palatable to us. In any meeting between our representatives and those of the Republic of Cameroon, the Republic of Cameroon must be made to admit loud and clear they we are another country, equal in status to them.We are not part of their country. We have to be assertive.

I am writing to vigorously reject the proposal. There is absolutely no reason why we should deprive our people at any time in their future of absolute independence, if it does not happen now. Let us not deceive ourselves that the federation that failed in the past will succeed today: the mentalities have not changed, as all you can see that we are still being treated like captives and people defeated at war.We must not accept the idea of forcing another ill-fated federation on our people! Thankfully, the other side is not even granting those who are talking of federation that option. I have explained over and over that there is absolutely no one-Cameroon formula, federation or otherwise, that will solve the Southern Cameroons problem. Why? Because we are dealing simply with a game of numbers! You will be overwhelmed, inevitably, by their population! You will have no school, town or place you can call your own. Sasse, Saker, University of Buea and all the rest are already Francophone schools, through the one-cameroon formula. You will simply be inviting cultural genocide. Reflect and you will see this clearly also.
