Hi all,

I have made a few "snoring" appliances in the past. A few...and it was AGES ago.

What happened in the intervening years was, "sleep apnea" became a buzzword along with all the associated courses, and the proprietary and non-proprietary appliances. Although all they really do, honestly, in advance the mandible a bit and hold it forward to allow the air to flow unimpeded. Yes...I know...there are at least 15 to 25 appliances that do this and the good ones can be "titrated"...

I have someone coming in today for a "snoring appliance" but until I meet her and see the chart, I have no idea if this is true, MD sleep doctor diagnoses "sleep apnea" or just self-diagnosed snoring.

From the little I know...unless there was an official diagnosis...all you can do is make a "snoring" appliance and advise them to go to a sleep doctor and get examined.

If they HAVE been officially diagnoses with sleep apnea...now what? Risks & Limitations of treatment?

All I have heard for the last 3 years is Somnodent Somnodent Somnodent...

Aside from 2 good impressions, I think I need at least one initial "protruded" bite reg to set up the initial adjustment on the appliance...right?

Quick replies would be appreciated since I'm seeing her this PM for her consult and maybe impressions.

Thanks -

Peter Campbell
