Maybe it is bad luck but a bit of warning here. I have three, a massive number considering the lack of prevalency of the condition. All came to me by physician referral except one. They were under the care of chiropractors, orthopedic surgeons and neurologists. I did the few things I do and sent them to the UF TMD clinic before and after Parker Mahan left. Parker did not believe they were TMD related but could find nothing else nor could the neurologists down there.
Everyone was looking for a neuralgia of some sort. One needed a hysterectomy so I referred her to an surgeon friend of mine in Valdosta. He became concerned with the headaches because his wife had them but was seeking and was not really sick. But turns out these women were not on pain meds nor did they want any. Tom did a massive work up and on a CT scan he noticed that the brain stem appeared elongated. He finally convinced the neurosurgeon of this and they did the work up. Her brain stem was slipping down her spinal canal. They put some sort of sling in there but it had to be a passive insert and they had to be ready to instantly remove it in case something unexpected happened…like death. They all have shunts now that control pressure in the cerebrospinal fluid. One is the wife of a physician and is now totally disabled. Arun knows this lady fairly well. Arun, we treated her headaches with referrals for years. And then a plain old general surgeon who had a light bulb go on in his on noggin found it.
I saw one two weeks ago and her shunt is stopped up and will not flush out so they are going to have to place a new one…dangerous operation. Great ladies all of them. The point here is to not overlook something extremely severe in treating these conditions. If you think it is not TMD then insist the neurologist look further.

Subject: [ACEsthetics] Natural Headache Relief
Massage Therapist, Chris Thomas and I have started a new FB page that hopefully be just one small outlet for educating the public about dentist, chiropractors, PT's, massage therapists helping people with chronic and acute head pain that is due to muscle dysfunction.
Headaches are the number 2 reason people seek medical help but as we know, MD's don't know how to treat these muscle related pains. Since the MD's can't help, the people have to suffer with their pain.
The goal of the site is to go viral with everyone's help. Most of us have private pages and business pages that represent thousands upon thousands of people. Any of you can post your feeling, cases, testimonies on the site.
Chris and I are the moderators so we can remove the negative or untrue material.
Please go to http://www.facebook.com/pages/Natural-Headache-Relief/469190949797152 and like the page and then post the URL on you home page plus business page. This page will not be used for fluff or personal agendas; it will be educational only.
So I am asking for help, I am pushing send and we will see what happens. Who knows what will catch on and what will not but it's worth a try and free to all.
