RE: [ACEsthetics] SurfCT, Computer updates 2014

We buy the biggest blasting computers Dell is making at the time.  We are running on basically new top of the line Dells with Windows 7.  It is impossible to keep up with software and too damned expensive.  The hospital changes out 1/3 of their computers every year to stay up to date and still we get behind.  It is fricking ridiculous.  The business public is going to get tired of it.

I'm sorry, but ALL companies need to develop their programs to be compatible with Windows 8 and whatever else Microsoft is going to promote to the general public. To suggest that someone to try to find Windows 7 Professional and install it on their computers is going to be difficult. First, it's going to be difficult to find. Second, here's how most docs buy computers for their office...computer breaks...they go to Sam's Club or BJ's or Best Buy or BIG Electronic Superstore...and buy the least expensive model for sale. Nowadays, that usually comes with Windows 8 Home Edition (or some other RelyX name that Windows came up with) and the doc tries to plug that into the network and expects that it will talk with all of the other computers in the office, including the one that's still running Windows98! :D

Software companies need to stay up with technology. Period.

Windows 8 is actually mislabeled because the actual part of Windows 8 that is Windows 8 is the one where you see all the apps. The desktop portion of Windows 8 is actually Windows 7. Go figure???

Ain't technology grand? :D

Agreed!  Windows 8 is not recommended.

The upgrade should be to Windows 7 Pro.

8 is for touch screen mobile users not business but XP is way too old.

The next generation of updates will not work on XP this is guaranteed.

Its like they story of goldilocks- the soup should be - not too hot (windows 8) not too cold (xp)

Just right!! Windows 7 J

The more important thing is how automated are your systems!!  How efficient?
