In 2010, President Goodluck Jonathan instructed the Nigerian Defense Academy to begin the admission of female cadets into the Academy.
Today, the first set female cadets (nicknamed Jonathan Queens by Academy authorities) are showing exceptional ability in a field that hitherto reserved for their male counterparts in Nigeria. They are excelling over their male counterparts in Military Training and Academics.
When the US Government requested for six (6) Nigerian cadets for its Prestigious West Point Military Academy, 2 of these female cadets beat their male counterparts to win placement at the US Military Academy...Outstanding!
One of the female Cadet emerged as the Best Cadet in Military Training among her set at the Defence Academy.
Eight of the Females Cadets were among the First 10 best academic students.
