Re: [MTC Global] Distance degrees valid for central govt jobs: MHRD

Dear Sir, The points for distance education.
1. It addresses the need of a working person by providing access to current
knowledge.
2. Providing a flexible environment to learn
3. Attendance is not mandatory and self study is encouraged
4. It is true that the fees are far less compared to full time education.
5. Coaching classes additionally help the student to do well in a subject
but this may be done thru classroom tutorials. From a commercial viewpoint
the coaching classes do not fail their pupils and this may cause dilution of
standards in distance education

A person with a distance degree need not be discriminated for appearing for
competitive exams or even job interviews. Intelligent and hard working
students will have an opportunity to compete with others.
The very fact that distance education opens the door for opportunities for
career advancement is in itself a positive. Discrimination based on some
prejudice is to negate the gains that distance education provides to the
needy.
Best Regards,
K.Paranjpe

it has to do nothing with regular or distance education. Even excellent
scholars of regular programs may not be good teachers. My experience is that
those who are learning while working can grasp the subjects better. That is
why we keep talking about OJT, summer training and internship. That is why
we are discussing about Industry-Institution interfacing and induction of
both academic and executives from trade and industry in the education
institutes. All reputed international institutions ask for at least two
years working experience for their PG programs. All the distance education
graduates may not be good teachers but saying all of them are not fit for
education is going too far. After all where from all the management theories
have come? RegardsVirendra GoelFrom: join_mtc@googlegroups.com

MHRDIf these are the reasons for promoting...distance education...
And if the distance education...is going to make women safer...one is most
welcomed to pursue it..Women have to get out some or the other time out of
house....won't they goto job...or are they planning to that from home
too...Perhaps that is what they are planning....Its ok to toy with the idea
of using internet..to teach...and think women are becoming independent...But
for work they have to step out of the house...unless offcourse..we are
needlessly arguing and we are taking about courses that help them learn to
become independent with in the four walls of their house..and then the
courses of engineering, management, medicine, have no meaning for them. And the
argument is useless because this is a management forum....But I find the
reason..of women safety a very lame excuse.....But distance education is
taken up because of...1) low cost
2) to escape the trouble of attendance
3)to keep working and gather some degree or the other. The 2nd and 3rd reason
are more prominent....especially in management education..and that is why I
do not find this as a good idea of having...distance education candidates
being allowed to enter teaching profession.Someone studies because of low
cost It is understandable...but distance education imn ?management is not
that cheap....in some cases...But if a candidate has taken education through
distance education...to escape attendance...and to be able to work
simultaneously.....such a person is not fit for teaching.... The regular
student may not be brilliant...but has to be more regular to studies. They
may also have to compete for the seat. Another lame excuse it reservation...
I have to remind...in case one has forgotten....There are seats lying vacant
both in reserved and general category....in regular MBA programs across the
country...Distance education doesn't require any competition for entrance.
The study centres are unable to maintain quality. The only aim seems to pass
all the students in distance education. I could go on and on.... But this is
enough....to explain...On 25 Sep 2015 20:26, "Usha Gowri"

the reservations only a few from particular communities can enter

the girl child and the kind of dastardly acts against the girls in the towns
and villages, distance education is the only way out for these
girls.Fourth,it isnt easy working and studying. It requires enormous jugglery
of time and resources and humongous motivation. And well what is special
about the regular student? better intelligence ? what.....?and lastly the
exorbitant fees is the biggest deterrent tor many to attend college.I could

regular education...and regular candidates where bunch of idiots..to lay
waste their time.Distance education.. should only be limited to industry and
not education.Otherwise those who pursued phd with job..they should be given
