Designs, develops and recommends security systems solutions that will ensure proprietary/confidential data is protected and loss prevented. Provides technical services for the support of integrated data loss prevention security systems and solutions. Participates with the client in the strategic design process to translate security and business requirements into processes and systems. The Data Loss Prevention Engineer will be responsible for administering and supporting data loss prevention solutions.

What are the three to five technical responsibilities of the position?

·         Experience with Symantec Vontu DLP product

·         Perform scans to identify and fingerprint data to be protected

·         Develop policies to monitor protected data while in-use (endpoint actions), in-motion (network traffic), and at-rest (data storage) with response rules to prevent leakage of protected data.

·         Communicate with internal and external resources to ensure all polices meet compliance and security requirements for the customer.

·         Troubleshoot issues that may arise from an incomplete scans, scan related performance issues, agent related performance issues, email and network traffic related performance issues, create customer tickets and manage problems until closure

Data loss prevention systems detect potential data breach incidents in timely manner and prevent them by monitoring data while in-use (endpoint actions), in-motion (network traffic), and at-rest (data storage). DLP systems can be both appliance based and host based with components for network monitoring (generally span or TAP), discovery scanning, and perimeter protection (blocking and traffic modification at network egress points.)

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

·         * Perform scans to identify and fingerprint data to be protected

·         * Develop policies to monitor protected data while in-use (endpoint actions), in-motion (network traffic), and at-rest (data storage) with response rules to prevent leakage of protected data.

·         Develop workflow for incident and alert generation for protected data policy infringement.

·         Communicate with internal and external resources to ensure all polices meet compliance and security requirements for the customer.

·         Troubleshoot issues that may arise from an incomplete scans, scan related performance issues, agent related performance issues, email and network traffic related performance issues, create customer tickets and manage problems until closure

·         Perform system maintenance and maintain current documentation

·         Continuous configuration and tuning of DLP systems, policies and response rules

·         Ensure that Service Level Agreements (SLAs) are met

·         Perform technical configuration reviews

·         Provide assessment / audit support during internal or external audits including Critical Practices, ISO, SAS70

·         Assist the client in providing best practice solutions for data protection

·         Assist the client in developing and approving policies and standards for data loss prevention

·         Report common and repeat problems (trend analysis) to management; propose process and technical improvements

·         Support the Security Operations Center by leading efforts requiring data loss prevention subject matter expertise

·         Provide advice, training, and technical support to customers, users, and coworkers

·         Mentor team members on data loss prevention
