Prof. Sachidananda Mohanty, Vice-Chancellor of the Central University of Orissa has been nominated as a member of Governing Council of the prestigious INFLIBNET Centre by the Chairman of the University Grants Commission (UGC) and President of INFLIBNET Centre.
The tenure of the membership is for three years.
The Information and Library Network (INFLIBNET) Centre is an Inter University Centre of University Grants Commission, an apex body for Indian Universities in India.
Major activities and services of the centre include automation of academic libraries and information centres, creation of union databases of resources available in academic libraries, promote resource sharing among academic libraries, promote information access and transfer through consortia, support scholarship, learning and academic pursuits.
The Centre acts as nodal agency for networking of libraries and information centres in universities, institutions of higher learning and R&D institutions in India with an aim to promote scholarly communication.
