Re: [MTC Global] MHRD denies extension to IIM-B director

Yes...in some b-schools, there is no concept of retirement even after 70 or 75 too. But this rule is not applicable for all faculty...it is for few privileged ones. Majority get retire at 65 only in same places, the management not give them even one day extension. For some people they do not bother for age or retirement.

It's a life fact in academics....you show me the man...I will show you the rule....

The Retirement ages are different in different Institutions.
For a Professor it is 65 years as per AICTE norms and employed under the 6th Pay
commission. One can say about affiliated colleges that they too follow the University
rules.
About Private colleges; I dont think that there is any concept of retirement. A teacher
can teach as long as is acceptable to the Governing Board.

The Union Ministry of Human Resource Development has turned down Indian Institute of
Management IIM-Bangalore's request to grant an extension to director Sushil Vachani, and
has started the appointment process to find his successor. The retirement age for IIM
directors is 65. Vachani joined IIM-B in July 2014, leaving his tenured position at
Boston University. He turns 65 by mid-2016. The faculty of IIM-B had requested the MHRD to
allow him to serve a 5-year term, arguing that directors of IITs are allowed to continue
till the age of 70.The Chairman of the IIM Board of Governors, Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw, had
also written to the ministry requesting an extension for Vachani. She had argued that
aligning the retirement age of IIM directors to that of IIT directors will help IIMs
recruit academics from leading international business schools.Mazumdar-Shaw confirming
the development said, "We have initiated a search for a new director as the MHRD is not
in a position to extend the term of Dr Sushil Vachani."A search-cum-selection committee
will now be set up to appoint a new director and IIM-Bangalore has asked the HRD ministry
to pick its nominee for the committee, reported ET.

It is absurd to divide people into good and bad. People are either charming or tedious. Speak less to the people whom you like most......Because if they can't understand your silence ......They can never understand your words..........

The teacher teaches only one fourth, the other one fourth is acquired by the student by himself, the remaining from his colleagues (peer group) and the final part over the period of time through experience.
