BENGALURU: Following the suspension of Vice-Chancellor of Visvesvarya Technological University Dr H Maheshappa, all the appointments made during his tenure will be probed. 168 candidates were appointed by VTU during 2013 at various levels as faculties; irregularity in appointing them was one of the major allegations made against Dr Maheshappa. The new vice-chancellor, who will be appointed soon, will be asked to take a relook at these appointments.
According to the sources from Raj Bhavan, out of 168 appointments, majority of them have violated the norms and the same has been mentioned in the Justice K N Keshavanarayana report.
Speaking to Express, some of the executive council members of VTU expressed that they will demand the new vice chancellor to place the entire file related to the teaching staff appointment before the executive council meeting.
Karan Kumar H, an executive council member said, "We demand detailed inquiry on the appointments. They have not just violated article 371 (J) in appointments, but ineligible candidates have been appointed for some important posts. We want an impartial inquiry including screening committee and Board studies, which played major role in appointments," explained Karan Kumar.
