Re: [MTC Global] Corruption Issues and Challenges in India

Some links that are interesting:

This  website seems to be all over but very interesting articles, especially the brain based studies on empathy.
Stanford research:
at the Center for Compassion and Altruism Research and Education under 'Project Compassion.'

Other great research findings are from University of Miami and University of  California.

What is to be does not necessarily have to be.

Let go or get dragged

Quite an honest reality check, this is from Usha-ji

Having worked with few of the Best Known MNCs, it reminds me of my saying (… and notoriously quoted in inner circles), "Corporate Executives conduct day-light robberies with their Visiting Cards. The Dacoits of the past were more honest, they at least carried the Gun" !!

The moot point is that, we ALL need to introspect and carry the courage and conviction to withstand any temptation or fear or even loss to resist the corruption. Very rightly identified by Stanford Univ survey on Empathy, we need to create an eco-system that will encourage honesty and discourage favoritism, nepotism, crony-capitalism or corruption. …. And who else will do this, if not individuals and collectively the society that we make ???

… a request to Usha-ji, whether you could forward the above-mentioned survey details and findings. thanks in advance.

"And see,  this P.G. applicant agrees rather than filling the form and submitting at the counter.  The people are so lazy that  instead of walking a small distance on foot, prefer to pay for a cab and then start blaming the cab service was not fine, was costly, behaviour of driver was not right.

Same is with the various services provided by Government and the corruption involved.

Corruption seekers are many times not ready to accept corruption but it is the service seeker who gives money to the service provider.

In a survey, it was found that 70% of police personnel were not willing to accept the money beyond their salaries but the public forces them to take the money.

They wish to feed their children with  money earned with honesty i.e. the salary they get from Government.

It appears to form opinions without data has become the routine of people.

An in depth studies will show that human beings are honest, dedicated and wish to bring up their children with honest means of earning. "

Much of this truly requires a re-look on its facuality.

Aside ,a study on Empathy by Stanford shows that humans are by nature cruel -in other words we are basically full of animal traits. So honesty is learnt from the eco-system and when the eco-system is filled with all sorts of low ethics and values that is what we learn. When we say corruption we look at the Government-unfortunately corruption is the highest in Corporates, educational institutions and all involved therein. How many of us have not put in a word for students with low grades? how many medical professionals and Professors are living like vultures off the flesh of students? How many Edn instt havent bribed the Corporates for placements? How many Corporate HRs havent take money off placement agencies ? How many of us have not given 'notes' in class and now  expect the student to be able to fill a form knowing we are producing literate illiterates?

I could go on and on and on...

AS a society we live in fear-so deep rooted it is difficult to get someone fight anything around. Disparities in the  society, easy access through reservations to a job even if one is a non performer, wanting the politician to pay me to vote for him-all have shown us an easy way out.So we dont value or appreciate anything. So if I want to start a business-well the message to others is I have money. So the socialist in me says mmm why cant she give me that money. It doesn't ask why should she share that money  with me for nothing?

So the best thing we can do for our sanity is to say: this is and this is how it will be for a long time to come.

Either I join the bandwagon or I jump off the ship and live my life my way.

Yet among all this muck I can show you n number of great people who are ethical, have their values in place and are a pleasure to deal with.
