RE: [ACEsthetics] crap OMFS

They ran him out of Gainesville, Florida.  Dryer knew of this idiot.  He happened to have a Georgia license.  J He keeps applying for hospital privileges. J  I’m chief of dental services.  He hates my guts. J He did mostly plastic surgery in Florida but cannot get a permit to do it in Georgia…only OMFS.  He sued the state of Florida with another DDS, MD to allow them to do general anesthesia on level three patients without an anesthesiologist present.  They lost.  Director of OMFS at Shanes in Gainesville knew he was incompetent and ran him out of Gainesville.  He was in my brother’s class at Emory and they said he didn’t bathe then either.  It gets grosser.

Geesh, Guy, that's awful. What is it about South Georgia that attracts so many weird dentists? It is scary when you are the normal one! <g>

Had a hygienist who was working for an OMFS who comes here three days a week.  He is filthy and smells.  My partner and I refuse to refer to him though some patients go on their own.  He once threatened to sue us for directing patients away from him.  I smiled and told him to go home and take a bath and to be sure and wash is feet and pits.

I’m the old guy around here and she came in a wreck.  She was assisting a month ago and a patient aspirated a tooth…whole thing…upper bicuspid.  She says she told him it went down the throat.  The patient is under IV sedation now.  The oral surgeon told her to shut us and keep suctioning.  The patient is in Valdosta hospital I think in critical condition with a lung abscess and a raging temp.  She is too sick now to go for the tooth though they have drained the abscess.

The surgeon told her to contact her liability carrier because this entire thing was her fault and they were being sued…and they are…by a damned good attorney.  It is not the hygienists fault because he was working without a throat pack.  He probably has used up his 3 million in previous suits against him and is trying to bail and lay it on the assistant.  I told her that it didn’t make a flip who did what.  The surgeon is ultimately responsible for everything that happens during surgery.  He’s not going to be able to prove she did something wrong.

I told her if it came to it here liability company may get involved but only to lay it back on the surgeon.  This guy is an absolute idiot.  He is one of those DDS, MD smartasses.  Ash, they may be calling you if he has any insurance left and they settle.  If the woman dies we have an entire new playing field.  I told her to tell her liability company that I knew an excellent expert witness but even I could testify that the assistant is not responsible for making sure there is a throat pack.

We had an idiot podiatrist who operated on the wrong foot because the OR staff propped up the wrong foot.  He blamed it on the staff but he got sued.  It is the surgeons responsibility to make sure that he’s cutting on the proper foot, leg, eye, etc.  This young woman is a wreck.  I hope I made her feel better.
