RE: [ACEsthetics] statins

I asked my physician that very question.  His answer was that I had enough calcium built up on my arteries to do a small addition to my house.  My left descending coronary artery is 100% occluded.  Why not do everything in our power to prevent one more drop of plaque from forming on a coronary artery.  He knows more cardiology that anyone on this forum and I’m trusting him.

Exactly.

They take the statins ‘cuz their docs tell ‘em to.

Question is, why do the docs tell ‘em to?  Great marketing?

Where did these statistics come from?  How could they be so precise about these numbers?  How could they possibly tell that the large percentage that was not helped would not have otherwise have had a problem?

So then, if these statistics are real, why would anyone take a statin?

Statins with and without known heart disease.

Note how many helped vs how many harmed.
