Respected All,
I am really thankful for your suggestions.
My question is if somebody is focusing more towards placements & He is doing students interaction where he is delivering lecture on companies expectation & skill sets required by the Corporate.
So looking to the above situation request you all to through some lights on his/her designation.
Will he/she call as a Placement Officer or Training & Placement Officer.
Request for your views……………………………….
With best Regards,

Dear Mr Sona Vikas
I am glad that you are performing both the roles and that you understand both the roles clearly. It is also true that the managements should understand these two roles.
People like you are exceptions. We need to build up such calibre in placement officers. My view was that the training deserves the desired focus and all stakeholders shall understand the same.

Hi,I can easily share practices in my Institute. As Head of Training & Placement, I am responsible for both the functions, and there is a clear difference in the same. While on one hand, I am responsible for the placements and internships of the students, along with all corporate interface, on the other hand, I roll out the training calendar for the students, after the training need analysis, identification of both internal and external training sources, developing training material for the student development and ensuring the ROI for the institute. It keeps me hands-full with such a herculean task, but the fact is that my background helps me perform my role with ease. I have worked in the Corporate for more than 7 years and have been associated with academics for more than 4 years now - it gives me a perspective not only to handle the corporate relations but also mould students to meet the expectations of the companies hiring them.It is just an understanding & interpretation of the profile by the college management that differentiates this function from other Institutes.rgdsSona--

Without naming the institute, I want to share some good information re: this.
Seniormost visiting faculty from different fields offer training in different sectors to students of III and IV Semester followed by placement by the placement officer. There is a rating scale for students' performance in training. The placement officer is bound to reckon the ratings before offering companies with a certain package. The training encompasses all that is required by the industries.
My view is that training and placement does not go well with the same faculty/officer. These are two different fields. What management institutes are required to do is to identify trainers (all faculty or visiting faculty are not TRAINERS) and make training classes compulsory. Please note that this is not additional burden of classes. Maximum 20-30 sessioins which can mould the entire career which the student would be willing to spend beyond the curriculum

Dear Mr KunalNice question .I too agree with your view .In fact many institutes do not understood the concept of placement and difference between these two activities.
In fact most of the institutes are using T & P activity as their marketing tool and do not want to understand working philosophy of this departmenti appreciate your vision towards this subjectregardsPrashant PatilHeadDepartment of Business StudiesSmt Radhikatai Pandav College of Engineering Nagpur(EX -Dean Training and Placement)On Tue, May 29, 2012 at 9:57 AM, Kunal Padole <kunal_padole@yahoo.com> wrote:
