Re: [MTC Global] ragging in the institutions

Being rich or being poor has nothing to do with the temperament of being a ragger.

I am from a affluent background...I have been brought up abroad.....i didnt see ragging there....

Yet inspite of all the criteria listed i detest ragging from the core of my heart....i have suffered terribly....

I must have gone mute...during my first semester in MBA. My warden years later when i went to submit my PHD....said you are such a warm and chatty person...i never knew...i always wondered when you were here in hostel...why you were always so quite and withdrawn...i told her the truth 11 years later....

So all said is not a criteria.....Its a misnomer.... It is important to set one's prejudice right before we embark on a crusade against Ragging.

Ragging is a mind set...its a sickness of the mind..where the person doing the ragging is a egoistic....bull.   He/She will settle for nothing less than the mental subordination of the other person. The brighter and more sparkling is the personality...the greater satisfaction and pleasure this egoistic bullie derives in bringing it down to submission. AND if the mental subordination becomes difficult then physical violence can be the end result.

I hate ragging....it is crushing.....insulting.....scaring the mind for life long...In its worst form...it can drive a person to depression and suicide.

I remmember i and my two of my friends where left behind on krishan janmastmi..and the whole hostel was vacant. We were scared stiff. We wouldnt go out even to hang our clothes to dry. We would peek from the door of our room and if we found the corridor vacant we would run to put our clothes on the line and run back and close the door shut.

it is under these circumstances that i decided to fight it out....to put an end to it once and for all. Yes i have fought very badly and bravely. I was isolated by my own collegues..just imagine...and when i won everyone enjoyed the new found freedom.

Sometimes then one feels there are people in this world who do deserve to get ragged.

So please it will be really helpful if one opens one's eyes and views this as an impartialy ....if one is affluent..one is good looking..one comes form a good background...one is wellspoken and knowledgeable....or if one is submissive or arrogant or stubborn..plus  all those in addition to this .....you name them ..all have a chance of getting ragged
