Karva Chauth is an Hindu festival celebrated every year on the forth day of the Ashwin month of the Hindu calendar year. The day is generally celebrated ten days before Diwali and it is mainly observed in Indian states of Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Haryana, Indian Punjab, Rajasthan and Gujarat.
On this day married women observe a strict fast for a long, fruitful and happy life of their husbands. The women don’t even have water for the entire day till the time they see the moon and worship it in the evening.
To celebrate this festival women dress up beautifully with Red or Pink color clothes, jewellary, make up etc. All the women observe this fast get together in the near by area and sing, dance and hear stories related to the festival.
