Re: [ACEsthetics] Re: dry socket ?

Bill,

I have only ever had one when I have placed oil in the socket. When they came back with it, I just used Alveologyl. Granted, there was a bunch of food up there, and also this patient had had a dry socket on EVERY tooth extraction in her life. I was trying to prevent it. Still got it. I don't blame ozone. Impacted roast beef will prevent ozone from doing its thing.

However, how quickly should a patient expect relief if they HAVE a dry socket and you use ozone to treat? Is relief as fast as that using Alveologyl? I've never tried it to TREAT dry socket, only to prevent it.

1)  Don't git it in the first place.  Put a small amount of the ozonated oil into the socket immediate after extraction.  Cover with the usual gauze.  Some Ozone Pathfinders also use high strength gas direct from their generators bubbled into the socket.

2) IF one occurs: irrigate out with ozonated water; can also gas; apply ozonated oils and give some to patient to take home and self-apply.  In cases of more advanced infection might also do ear insufflation of gas and injection of low conc gas into soft tissues.  Rare.

Best: prevent rather than fix.

Sheesh.  Just use some ozone oil.  Cheap and never see dry sockets.

Both VERY responsible manufacturers.

Yea, I caught our associate using a huge hunk in every socket.  I nailed him to the wall.  He said we could just buy some more.  Well, hell, I'd gotten that from Canada and it was not cheap.  He was using it in sockets that were not dry sockets…preventative.  BS

Love Alvelogyl! (sp?)
I inadvertently contaminated our only jar and my assistant threw it out!
Are there any Canadian ACErs out there who are willing to thumb their noses at our FDA and sneak me some?
Private responses are welcomed.
Thanks, Peter

Avelogyl by Septodont.....FDA took it off the market a few years ago but Canada and most other Countries still approve....think it had something regarding an extract from a protected fern.  Find a DDS Canadian friend as I did.  Its like magic.

So yesterday I posted on the email forum for advise about getting a new statim or not.  Within two hours I got about 25 responses.  I posted the same question on ACE dental world today and so far have gotten one response from Mike Maroon.  Thanks Mike.  This just helps to reinforce why I still love the email format better.
