Skills Required and Job Description:

As the Lead System Administrator, you will be responsible for both the pre-production environments for the platform and applications running Our Clients direct marketing products as well as the release management functions for release code to those environments and production. Your team consists of you, a Release Engineer and another system admin.   Required Skills: Strong UNIX system and Windows administration skills (including setting up and managing VMs, network configuration, back up systems, monitoring and alerting systems). Strong Oracle DBA operations management skills. Strong Release Management skills and setting up. Install operating system and/or program product upgrades and/or fixes which support ongoing operation of major application installs (we're an Apache, Java, Spring, Hibernate platform with an Oracle 11G database tier). Perform proactive monitoring for high availability, System data protection, backup and restore, UNIX central authentication, user account management, disk storage management, hardware and OS maintenance, and application maintenance. Identify and document standards for use and operation of systems software. Provide data protection, recovery and business continuity. Test and validate disaster recovery and business continuity methods in UNIX environment. Perform routine backup and recovery for data protection and integrity for UNIX servers. Monitor UNIX infrastructure that consists of complex sets of equipment and system software. Provide proactive remediation. Responsible for developing, implementing and maintaining release management software and continuous integration environment. Troubleshoot UNIX networking services and protocols: TCP/IP, NIS, DNS, NFS, LDAP, FTP, SSH, SMTP, SNMP, SSL, HTTP, etc. Strong communication skills and ability to work under pressure. Must be comfortable working with a close knit team, must be a self starter as the candidate will be expected to autonomously take high level requirements through to completed functionality – and be able to manage a small team of 2 (including a Build & Release Engineer as well as a System Admin).   Education: A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field. Certifications in AIX, UNIX etc. desirable. Appropriate Certifications (UNIX, DBA, Networking)
