Re: [ACEsthetics] Marvin Berlin- Cover Boy

I have an absolute rule with the team and myself.  I will NOT walk into the operatory unless a team member is present.  They have to tell me patient's name and a summary of why they are in the chair.  Of course it is all done as regular conversation.  Like most of the information we teach, no one would know what we were doing unless they were trained to listen for it.

I have the same problem—the memory of a fruit fly! So I put a white boaerd in each operatory. The assistant writes  "Good morning/afternoon Mrs. Jones" and the procedure(s) to be performed.  The patient appreciates that the room was prepared for them and is delighted to see their name. I can look at this board throughout the appointment, and, when we are doing multiple procedures, it keeps me on track. Of course this also certifies that the chart was reviewed.
A caution: This only works when the patient is named "Mrs. Jones"!! :>)))

If a young dentist just does five or six of the things Marvin recommends, they will be way ahead.  One thing though.  I also am terrible with names so I have the chart pulled up behind the patient rather than having the name written on the bracket table cover.  Many patients will get nosey and read this stuff and when they read their name they know you don't know it.  Of course most of my patients know I'm terrible with names and it is a joke.  Some can be offended though by putting it on the bracket table cover if they have access.  That was the only thing I saw that was not flawless recommendation.  Way to go Marvin.  Wish we had sold to Heartland.  Guy
