Dr. Tumasang,
Are you aware that there are other fund initiatives floating out there and said to be for this same purpose? There are those who generalize from the experience of a hundred political parties in Biya's Cameroun. I thought you may find this useful to this initiative and the interest at heart.
NDI MANJONG.
Dear Southern Cameroons Compatriots,
February 6, 2013 - An initiative to establish a reserve fund for Southern Cameroons has garnered over ten thousand (10,000) pounds barely 24 hours after the campaign went "live" via an email exchange.
The pledges were all received from Southern Cameroonians based abroad within the first 15 hours following the online launch of the initiative on 5 February 2013. Several Southern Cameroonians who live in the territory have promised to announce pledges to the Southern Cameroons Reserve Fund, as it is called, within the coming days.
For the time being, the names of donors to the fund are being kept under wraps, as founders of the group are literally scrambling only now to put together the legal paperwork they need to officially register the fund, designate its administrators and other officials, as well as set up its book keeping, transparency and banking mechanisms.
Anyone willing to contribute to this fund, whose overall objective is the restoration of the United Nations British-administered state of Southern Cameroons, should know that any money raised/pledged or actually paid into the fund will not be spent until a legal status is defined, a transparency and accountability framework agreed, and officials are elected or appointed to manage the fund. To this effect, friends of and the peoples of Southern Cameroons will continue to receive full information about the reserve fund, including a detailed annual report outlining the amount accumulated over the preceding 12 months and any use to which funds were put in the course of that period.
The United States, Canada and the United Kingdom are the top three Western countries being considered for hosting the seat of the fund. Branches of the fund are expected to open in several other Western countries within the coming months, especially if the organization obtains tax-exempt status in all or most of these countries.
