<<Start Press Release>>Breaking News:Washington DC, March 31, 2013The Calabar Declaration of February 13-2013 adopted in full by Free Ambazonians (people of Southern Cameroons) of the Greater Washington DC Metropolitan Area in the March 29-2013 meeting held in Hyattsville MD-USA.The Calabar Declaration of 02-13-13 is restated below in fullAcknowledging the urgent need to be unified under the protection of the sovereignty in the Republic of Ambazonia (the successor state of the long extinct "Federal United Cameroon Republic"), the Free Ambazonian people in the Hinterland of Ambazonia (British Southern Cameroons) and the Free Ambazonian people of the Bakassi Peninsular (British Southern Cameroons) have agreed to henceforth conduct the struggle to restore the independence of their country, affectionately called by its 'pre-independence' name as AMBAZONIA, under the auspices of the all-purpose, self-unifying entity of the AMBAZONIA LIBERATION MOVEMENT [A.L.I.M]The mission of ALIM (Ambazonia Liberation Movement):TO APPLY EVERY KIND OF PRESSURE WITHIN THE BOUNDS OF INTERNATIONAL LAW, THE COMITY OF NATIONS AND THE PRINCIPLE OF SELF-PRESERVATION TO ENSURE THE RESTORATION OF THE REPUBLIC OF AMBAZONIA (British Southern Cameroons)."This is one way we here in the United States of America, a free land, can help contribute our little mites in the struggle for our independence" so said one of the attendees who for strategic reason do not want his name revealed. By simply taping on the value inherent in the sovereignty of our country, Ambazonia, at the least as he said, "we will introduce a sea change the nature of our discussion". It was the consensus that no longer should we be begging the UN or any other body to adjudicate in our favor. That this has been tried and failed and its time to adopt a new model that attaches to the element of power. Some of the discussions invoked sentiments of the great mass movement campaign of the 70s and 80s that led to the collapse of apartheid South Africa, and how we too can start our very own FREE AMBAZONIA campaign here in the USA by imitating the "Free South African" campaign with the singular objective to demand that Cameroon should get out of our country we have defined by its 'pre-independence" name as AMBAZONIA."This name has historic precedence we can not afford to throw away, even if we have some reservations about the style and techniques of some proponents of the Ambazonian ideology", so said Mr. Clackson", who incidentally was unanimously elected to head the ALIM- Greater Washington Chapter until such time when a much more expansive body would be assembled to elect its offices as needed. The plenary was quick to recognize the significance of the move initiated by our fellow compatriots, who for lack of better phrase we have called "Bakassi Ambazonians" to contrast from the "Hinterland Ambazonians", when on their own, are on public record as wanting to join the struggle for independence of the Southern Cameroons so as to form an independent Republic of Ambazonia. http://www.naijapundit.com/news/bakassi-ceding-indigenes-plan-secession-name-new-republic-ambazoniaHere is what one of leaders of the Bakassi Ambazonians community Honorable Cletus Obun said as quoted in the link below.."We will embark on serious mobilisation across local government areas bordering Cameroon in collaboration with the Efiks in Bakassi and the Southern Cameroon for an independent state of Ambazonia. We are going to seek for a plebiscite under the UN Charter on Human Rights, " http://www.osundefender.org/?p=41897<<End Press Release>>**^ REFLECTION^**The person who said that.. "cynicism is the last stop on the road to apathy" may have just defined the state of Ambazonia (British Southern Cameroons) independence struggle at this moment. We are right now stuck in this political quagmire of Ethno-personality driven politics so far disconnected from the reality of power as to make pan-Cameroon advocates happy!Power was what we lacked in the 1950s when our entire political culture conducted those grave matters of 'sovereignty politics' disconnected from any evidence of knowledge of our bona fide sovereign destiny as sanctioned by UN Article 76(b). The circular argument that.."to the extent you do not know who you is reason why you do not know what you want"... with its inverse true summarizes why we are powerless right now!! Those very basic pre-requisites of survival of any people, any nation and any state as when reasonable people are expected to promote their very distinctive identity and its accompanying nationalism at the level of the 'functional state' was absent and still absent, in our political culture. It should have been obvious to anyone that the sentence masquerading for a name which we inherited from the 1946 San Francisco's Dumbarton Oaks Conference at the start of the United Nations, did not suffice as a name, but as some description for our very well defined by law and by the evolution of our sociopolitical history territory. Anyone curious to know what our legally correct name was still is, is this name: "The United Nations Trust Territory of the Southern Cameroons under the United Kingdom Administration". Yes, this is the name we should be using if we want to reference the latest source of historical validity, and not any of the fancy abbreviated types we have come to call our "historic name".But if we understood the element of POWER why should we at this stage in our struggle still be interested in names that bring no added-value to our survival quest as a people, as a nation and as the sovereign state we know we ought to have been since 1960? Why are we instead in year 2013 diminishing our survival in the hostile region we happen to be located by using the same "identity" and its accompanying "nationalism base" used by the offending pan-Cameroonian state? Does anyone have a logical answer other than that God ordered us to use elements of our history that do not serve our best interest? Therefore instead of the usual "cynicism and apathy" that greets events such as the launching of the Greater Washington DC, Chapter of A.L.I.M [Ambazonia Liberation Movement], by all means, please let us try for a change to see what good can come out of this. Rest assured GOOD things will happen because we as a people now "know who we are as a result of us knowing what we want"! We should all consider this move by FREE AMBAZONIANS {anyone born in what is summarily called 'Southern Cameroons'} as a drive to lay the psychological as well as political foundation for a paradigm shift on how to conduct our emancipation quest in this pre-independence era.
Thank you and please support A.L.I.M [Ambazonia Liberation Movement] today. And where ever you are join or form your own branch or chapter of ALIM and see how power would quickly devolve into the struggle. This will be seen by people, nations and states who support our cause as a veritable act of invocation of our rights of self-determination!Edwin Nganga FREE AMBAZONIANfor the Ambazonia Liberation Movement -ALIM
