RE: [ACEsthetics] texting to the office computer

They simply call me at home or see me in church.

Great idea, Bill!

Is being TOO accessible ever a problem? (Patients expecting SMS conversations after hours etc.)

Since texting is more popular that email these days, I thought it would be useful for patients to be able to send text messages to the office, but didn't want to give out anyone's personal phone number and certainly don't want to see any staff on their phone while on the clock (I prohibit cell phone use by staff). I found an app - Mighty Text - that enables texting using a computer. The text goes through a cell phone, but pops up on the computer screen where you can reply. I activated an old cell phone with a new number (costs $40/mo - would be cheaper if it weren't a smartphone). The phone sits on my desk (where I can review all texts), and the app is installed on all the front desk computers. I find that I use it as well, when I'm out of the office.

You guys have probably been doing this for years, but I just figured it out.
