If you think about it, squats are just the act of sitting down without the chair. Keep your weight is your heals and your chest up. Before starting Crossfit, I had pain in my knees going up steps and I thought I could never do squats. At 50 y/o, I can do hundreds without knee pain. Its all in the technique.

Squats are really great....as are lunges, for legs that is...At my age, I prefer the Smith equipment for this though...yes it doesn'tcreate as much fine muscle work, since the bar and weights are on a track, butit does help avoid injury, and allows you to take it slow at first.BUT, definitely do this under the guidance of a personal trainer.I can't imagine how anyone can do effective workout without a trainer.Marc Whitmore--On Sat, Mar 2, 2013 at 9:31 AM, Rick Coker <riccoker@gmail.com> wrote:
I am thinking that with some of the aches and pains I have been getting, I need to be challenging my muscles a bit more.--My son sent me this link about doing squats, it is pretty interesting. http://stronglifts.com/how-to-squat-with-proper-technique-fix-common-problems/What do you real workout fanatics think about this, will I hurt myself, can I really look like Arnold in a few weeks?ThanksRick
