Most of these teeth are discolored. Tiger Woods has one that he had bleached but is coming back brown. He got hit in the mouth in a pick-up touch football game at Stanford. I’m betting Tiger had endo because that tooth was back to a normal shade at one time. Did not last long. It is not just a matter of infection. These teeth that are discolored will continue to darken over time and they get harder to block out. I don’t put a ¾ crown or crown on a dark tooth unless it has endo. Endo will stop discoloration, though the tooth will never be the same color as the adjacent teeth without veneers. I’ve had trouble blocking out discoloration with just plain veneers. I can do it with an Arturo veneer.

Not automatically, but significant probability.
How do we KNOW a tooth’s infected? Other than the rather weak BANA test, we’re pretty well stuck with some very archaic macro observations, like calor, tumor, rubor, dolor kinda stuff. Radiographs. Primitive.

Subject: [ACEsthetics] non vital tooth
I'm having a discussion with my staff. Would you consider a non-vital tooth to be infected or can it just be left alone.
